A ketogenic diet, a high protein and low carb diet, is a popular way for health-conscious individuals to lose weight, maintain a good blood sugar level and regulate blood pressure.  The ketogenic diet has evolved from basic meals to include healthy snacks for those on the go.

Research shows, “the keto industry is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5 percent. Hence the market size of $9.57 billion in 2019, is estimated to reach $14.69 billion by 2027,” according to Simporter.

Allen Marketing Communications, Inc., a boutique food, beverage and lifestyle public relations agency, spotlights key insights as it pertains to the keto snack industry to help food and beverage marketers tap into this growing market.

Here is what is trending with popular keto-friendly snacks.

Mixed Nuts
Nuts -- almonds, cashews, pistachios, walnuts, pecans -- are full of protein, fat, fiber, and plant compounds that offer a variety of health benefits. Research shows, a serving of nuts can reduce risk of heart disease and cancer-related death.

Keto Smoothies
Smoothies are one of the most effective ways to gain all the nutrients you need in one cup.  Keto smoothies can incorporate coconut, avocado, and nut butter as a base to boost fat content and provide a smoother texture.

Low-carb fruits such as berries, lime, or lemon, as well as nutrient-dense veggies such as spinach, cucumber, kale, or jicama are also delicious keto-friendly smoothie.

To incorporate natural flavors, consider stevia or monk fruit, as well as cacao, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

Caprese Salad Skewers
A Caprese salad, a classic Italian dish made with fresh mozzarella cheese, basil leaves, and cherry tomatoes. This salad becomes a portable snack simply by adding these ingredients on a skewer.

Frittatas
Frittatas, an egg-based Italian dish cooked slowly and served at room temperature, are customizable and super easy keto-friendly snacks to make.  Healthy twists on the frittatas include broccoli, baby spinach, capsicum, mushroom, pumpkin, red onions and tomatoes.

Salmon Salad Celery Boats
Salmon is a great source of omega-3 fats, protein, and vitamin D. To transform it into a salad, simply combine cooked salmon and mayonnaise, fresh herbs, spices, garlic, or lemon.

“Keto snacks come in many different forms such as candies, bars, or cereals, which contributes to market growth of 169 percent, 105 percent, and 84 percent respectively according to more than 72,000 consumer data,” according to Simporter.

Our food, beverage and lifestyle public relations professionals are here to help food marketers stand out in this growing keto market.
