Boutique PR Firm Shares Insights About Key Wellness Trends for 2019

“Wellness is all about making the healthy lifestyle choices and maintaining one’s well-being both physically and mentally, “according to Statista.  The U.S. Spa industry generated $17.5 billion in revenue from 187 million spa visits to more than 21,770 spa establishments.

Allen Marketing Communications, Inc, a NYC boutique travel PR firm, advises our hospitality clients to make subtle changes in their hotel offerings based on industry trends to inspire first-time and repeat travelers to stay at their property.

Here are five key wellness trends to watch in 2019.
  • SPAcations are designed for people who looking for an active vacation while incorporating healthy exercise packages and healthy meal options.  Popular SPAcations include skiing, yoga sessions, hiking, snowmobiling, safari trips inter-sprinkled with massages, saunas and baths.  Savvy hotel marketers are offer temping specials to entice the active spa traveler to stay longer at their resort with daily spa treatments.
  • Precious Metal And Stones In Therapies – Silver, gold, pearls, ambers are being re-discovered for their healing properties.  Research has shown these precious metals help to relax the body and mind, reduce fatigue and restore energy balance.  In fact, “silver iron baths are said to improve wellbeing and skin tone.  Amber releases amber acid into the environment and when the right temperature is reached, affecting the nervous system and relieve stress.
  • SPA For Children -- Savvy spa marketers are developing mini-spa packages designed for children so the entire family can participate in wellness treatments.  According to the International SPA Association, more than half of the almost 14,000 SPAs in the USA offer packages for families, teens or kids - and Europe is following close in their footsteps. Children-friendly areas are taking over the SPA centers - from specialized kids-friendly saunas to salt therapy.  Kids’ spa experience are designed to lure them away from playing constantly on the iPads and video games simply by introducing them to sporting activities such as tennis, bicycling and water sports.
  • CBD Oils (also known as hemp oil) is growing in popularity in the wellness world.  CBD oil has been shown to “improve sleep, digestion, pain, stress.”  Hemp Business Journal estimates the U.S. hemp industry will grow to a $1.9 billion dollar market by 2022. According to Mind Body Green Health, “It's important to know that CBD does not have any of the psychoactive effects associated with THC, which is found in high quantities in marijuana. Instead, CBD contains many of the healing properties—without "the high." CBD is generally considered safe and is legal in most states.”  
  • Heat and Mud Therapies Are Popular Again --  What’s old is new again.  Heat and mud therapies have been around for ages.  However, hamman beds, mud therapy and saunas are becoming increasing popular again as people are rediscovering the health benefits of these therapies.   In fact, some SPA centers are adding essential oils, locally grown herbs into the mix of these spa rituals.
